New course launching May 1 offers 4 modules and in-person workshops
Jackson Orthopedic Foundation (JOF) has announced plans to offer a revamped Orthopedic Primary Care (OPC) course in four modules beginning May 1, 2019. A hybrid offering of both online education and in-person workshops, the course, dubbed OPC 2.0, will share musculoskeletal fundamentals for primary care providers, and prepare clinicians to diagnose and manage common orthopedic conditions in primary care settings. Enrollment is open to nurse practitioners, currently enrolled NP and DNP students, clinical nurse specialists, physician assistants and primary care physicians.

Here’s the lineup for the 4 OPC modules:
- Upper Extremity + Pediatrics: Opens May 1, 2019. Workshop: July 20-21, 2019.
- Lower Extremity + Arthritis/Inflammatory Conditions: Opens August 1, 2019. Workshop: October 12-13, 2019.
- Spine + Metabolic Conditions + Imaging: Opens November 1, 2019. Workshop: January 18-19, 2020.
- Skills opens February 1, 2020. Workshop: April 18-19, 2020.
—Day 1: Injections + Gait Training, canes, crutches, durable medical equipment (DME)
—Day 2: Splints & Casting + Exercise prescription and manipulation techniques
Course presenters are Kathleen A. Geier, DNP, and AJ Benham, DNP. Participants may begin the course at any time and take it in any sequence. You must complete the homework to attend an in-person workshop. Workshops will be held onsite at our offices in Oakland, California, unless otherwise noted.
Total price for the course, if all modules are purchased at the same time, is $1,750. Modules purchased individually are $500 each.
