Meet Our 2019 HIPsters

Andrew Foster: “I am a rising sophomore at Occidental College in Los Angeles. I am currently majoring in religious studies and am on a pre-med academic track. I hope to pursue a career in orthopedics one day, and I am excited to join JOF’s Healthcare Immersion Program this summer.”
Ava Schwartz: “I am a rising junior at the University of Rochester, majoring in biochemistry with a minor in psychology. I am excited to learn more about career pathways in orthopedics through my experience with JOF, and am particularly interested in how orthopedics relates to sports medicine and exercise science.”
Kyueui Kim: “I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, with degrees in biochemistry and molecular biology. I currently volunteer at a hospital while working at a clinic. I am joining JOF to further explore career options in the medical field, with plans to become a healthcare provider.”
Thomas Webb: “After working for 9 years as a photojournalist in the healthcare field, I decided to put down my camera and pursue a career in medicine. I completed the post-baccalaureate program at UC Berkeley, and am currently applying to medical schools. I’m looking forward to better understanding healthcare from a clinician’s perspective through my experience with JOF."
Pilar Gibson: “I am a senior at Hampton University in Virginia majoring in biology. I am joining JOF this summer to explore career options in the medical field, and I plan to pursue a master’s degree in physician assistant studies after I graduate from college.”
