JOF’s vision is to be the Bay Area’s preeminent resource for information, collaboration and innovation affecting musculoskeletal health and common orthopedic conditions. We’re confident that with the continued support of donors like you we can reach more people than ever before and raise the bar for orthopedic care in the Bay area and beyond.

Our society is aging, and the prevalence of age-related disease is increasing, including and joint disorders. In addition to the pain and suffering they cause, these conditions also have an increasingly large effect on our economy in the form of increased absenteeism, lost productivity, and increased health care, disability, and worker’s compensation costs. Meanwhile, according to the United States Bone & Joint Initiative, Baby Boomers have just begun to become beneficiaries of Medicare, and the economic and societal cost of bone and joint health is expected to begin a further escalation that will endure for decades.

The time is now to confront this growing health trend head-on, especially at the local level. We do this through donor-funded education, research and service aimed at improving quality of care, improving collaboration between professionals and attracting young talent to join the profession.

Your tax-deductible support enables us to provide professional education for Bay Area medical professionals in the form of continuing education and certification support. We also provide educational workshops for local patients, enabling to better understand and manage their conditions. We also participate in donor-funded research, to improve the quality of musculoskeletal care, while at the same time introducing local college students to orthopedics through our donor-funded summer intern program.
