If you or a student you know is thinking about a career in healthcare, now is the time to take the next step. Jackson Orthopedic Foundation’s Healthcare Immersion Program (HIP) is accepting applications for our 2025 session, running from July 7 to August 1.

This four-week program is designed to give students real-world clinical experience by shadowing healthcare Bay Area professionals across multiple specialties. From surgery observation to direct patient care, HIP provides an inside look at what it means to work in healthcare.

Why this program matters

Many students considering a career in healthcare struggle to find opportunities to gain hands-on exposure. HIP bridges that gap by offering:
  • Clinical shadowing with experienced professionals – including nurses, physicians, PAs, PTs, and OTs
  • Direct observation of patient care – from routine exams to surgical procedures
  • 80-100 clinical hours – giving students meaningful experience to strengthen their applications for medical, nursing, or other health programs
Designed to be flexible, the program allows students to participate while balancing summer jobs or coursework. Scholarships are available for those with financial need.
