Orthopedic Injection Workshops

Learn valuable skills that expand treatment options

Picture
As part of our effort to improve patient outcomes through professional education, JOF offers an all-day Orthopedic Injection Workshop several times each year. The course is available to all holders of advanced practice degrees in healthcare holding a current license.

Corticosteroid injections can be a useful addition to the available treatment options for musculoskeletal and joint injuries and painful conditions. They do require specialized skills, but with appropriate training they can be performed safely and effectively by a primary care provider.

Each workshop – valued at 6.5 CEU – is a day-long session with research-based content and hands-on practice using anatomical models. The workshops are held in Oakland, California.

Check out our blog and social media for announcements of new Workshop dates.

Why injections?
Muscle and joint injuries have many causes, including: muscle strains, trauma, connective tissue disease, degenerative joint disease, tendinitis, bursitis, arthritis, inherited congenital disorders, and miscellaneous systemic diseases.

Corticosteroid injections can be a useful adjunct to the treatments employed in managing these conditions. They are most effective when combined with other pharmacologic and rehabilitation measures, such as the administration of NSAIDs, stretching, ice, heat, etc. They are also a relatively safe procedure and can be managed by a variety of clinicians.
