Orthopalooza Hybrid: Upper Extremity & Pediatric Conditions integrates comprehensive online study with a focused, hands-on Orthopalooza workshop to strengthen diagnostic reasoning, refine examination technique, and improve management of shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, and pediatric MSK presentations.

This course is designed to help you return to clinic prepared to manage common upper extremity and pediatric conditions safely, confidently, and within scope.

How the hybrid model works

65 Hours of Online Study
Build comprehensive MSK knowledge through structured modules covering anatomy, pathophysiology, diagnostics, treatment planning, and self-management strategies.

1-Day In-Person Orthopalooza Workshop (Saturday)
Apply and reinforce learning in a small-group setting focused on exam technique, clinical reasoning, and hands-on skills development.

Participants must complete the online coursework before attending the workshop to maximize hands-on time.

What you'll learn

Upper extremity
  • Upper extremity anatomy in relation to shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand dysfunction
  • Components of a focused upper extremity history and physical examination (H&P)
  • Presentation of specialized maneuvers for differential diagnosis
  • Indications for diagnostic imaging and other tests for upper extremity conditions
  • Identification of common stable shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand fractures
  • Identification of orthopedic emergencies requiring immediate referral
  • Development of evidence-based treatment plans for common upper extremity conditions
  • Principles for self-management of common shoulder, elbow, wrist, and hand conditions

Pediatrics

  • Details of the pediatric H&P pertinent to evaluating musculoskeletal conditions
  • Formulating differential diagnoses based on findings of the pediatric H&P
  • Recognizing pediatric orthopedic emergencies requiring immediate consultation/referral
  • Developing evidence-based treatment plans for common pediatric MSK conditions

Accreditation

CE credits are nationally recognized. Jackson Orthopedic Foundation is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation and approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing.

Workshop location

Workshops are held at Creekside Commons in Lafayette, California, on Saturdays to minimize disruption to clinical schedules. Additional cities are planned and will be announced.
