Why injections?
Muscle and joint injuries have many causes, including: muscle strains, trauma, connective tissue disease, degenerative joint disease, tendinitis, bursitis, arthritis, inherited congenital disorders, and miscellaneous systemic diseases. Corticosteroid injections can be a useful adjunct to the treatments employed in managing these conditions. They are most effective when combined with other pharmacologic and rehabilitation measures, such as the administration of NSAIDs, stretching, ice, heat, etc. They are also relatively safe procedures and can be managed by a variety of clinicians. |

Each injection workshop is taught by our experienced instructors, A.J. Benham, DNP, and Kathleen A. Geier, DNP. The content for the workshops is built on presentations both have delivered at numerous professional conferences, including the California Association for Nurse Practitioners Conference. Drs. Benham and Geier also teach this workshop as part of our Orthopedic Primary Care program. In 2023 we welcomed our third instructor, Laura Balassone, RN MSN. |
