With summer around the corner we're excited to share several learning opportunities with you for this season and beyond.
Our catalogue of in-person, online and blended learning options is designed to help you conveniently and affordably acquire new skills and confidence treating common bone, muscle and joint conditions. Each summer we also help students explore future careers in healthcare.
Our summer Healthcare Immersion Program is now underway. We're excited to introduce our seven students -- a brilliant group of young people with diverse interests and aspirations for a future career in healthcare. Our 2022 program runs through August 5.
We’re excited to announce that Maggie Macy, RN is joining our team as our 2022 Healthcare Immersion Program (HIP) Coordinator.
Along with being a guide and mentor for student participants, the HIP coordinator is responsible for planning and organizing the program schedule, and managing day-to-day activities, along with administration, evaluations, and working with our Board and marketing teams as needed. Our inaugural Orthopalooza MSK skills weekend was a hit. Usually part of our blended learning Orthopedic Primary Care Courses, we broke out the weekend workshop as a standalone two-day workshop event April 8 & 9.
Held at Creekside Commons in Lafayette, California, the workshop, valued at 15 contact hours, quickly sold out and we're already planning our next Orthopalooza event for September 9-10.
Education is a key focus for us at JOF -- and it was a great experience to finally be in person again with friends and colleagues at the California Association for Nurse Practitioners 44th Annual Educational Conference in Pasadena.
It was a lively event filled with learning and networking -- including presentations on menopause and foot and ankle pain by our instructors Kathleen Geier, DNP and A.J. Benham, DNP
It's here! Our Fourth Annual Canes Film Festival & Gala is this Sunday, Nov. 7!
Tickets are still available via our website -- Standard Tickets are $50, Student Tickets are $25. Click on the button below to reserve your spot either in-person or on YouTube.
We’re excited to announce that Mahnoor Yousuf is again supporting our Healthcare Immersion Program (HIP) as a Coordinator.
If Mahnoor’s name seems familiar, it’s because she was Coordinator for the 2021 program, and was a student in the 2020 HIP program. She is a graduate of UC San Diego having majored in biochemistry and cell biology, with a minor in global health. She's currently applying to medical schools.
While the headlines have been full of COVID and the election of late, there’s one story that will likely stand out to California nurse practitioners: AB 890.
Assembly Bill 890 was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom on September 29 and makes California the 23rd state in the U.S. to offer Full Practice Authority (FPA) to NPs. It goes into effect in January 2023, with implementation details to be developed over the next two years. |
