Our inaugural Orthopalooza MSK skills weekend was a hit. Usually part of our blended learning Orthopedic Primary Care Courses, we broke out the weekend workshop as a standalone two-day workshop event April 8 & 9.
Held at Creekside Commons in Lafayette, California, the workshop, valued at 15 contact hours, quickly sold out and we're already planning our next Orthopalooza event for September 9-10.
Education is a key focus for us at JOF -- and it was a great experience to finally be in person again with friends and colleagues at the California Association for Nurse Practitioners 44th Annual Educational Conference in Pasadena.
It was a lively event filled with learning and networking -- including presentations on menopause and foot and ankle pain by our instructors Kathleen Geier, DNP and A.J. Benham, DNP
We’re excited to announce that Mahnoor Yousuf is joining our team as our 2021 Healthcare Immersion Program (HIP) Coordinator.
If Mahnoor’s name seems familiar, it’s because she was a student in last year’s HIP program. She is finishing her fourth year at UC San Diego majoring in biochemistry and cell biology, with a minor in global health, before she begins a gap year.
While the headlines have been full of COVID and the election of late, there’s one story that will likely stand out to California nurse practitioners: AB 890.
Assembly Bill 890 was signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom on September 29 and makes California the 23rd state in the U.S. to offer Full Practice Authority (FPA) to NPs. It goes into effect in January 2023, with implementation details to be developed over the next two years.
We're the staff and volunteers at Jackson Orthopedic Foundation, committed to improving the lives of patients with musculoskeletal conditions through education, research and service.
